A world in bright colours

Photographer Peter Roskothen is exhibiting at Atelier Moosgasse.

Kempen. The exhibition with the ambiguous name "Verrückt - verrückt" was opened on Friday evening at Atelier Moosgasse, Moosgasse 1. It was a mysterious event: the photographs by Grefrath artist Peter Roskothen were only unveiled once all the guests and friends had arrived.

What then appeared rewarded those waiting: A world of bright, garish colours whizzing by. On closer inspection, the viewer discovers motifs that leave room for interpretation: "Looks like a laundry room in flames." Or: "That could be cars parked under a bridge."

Many motifs are blurred and leave room for interpretation
Whether double-deckers, buses, house fronts, brightly lit figures in dark, empty cities, everything is blurred and blurred. Only the flower motifs in oversized Polaroid format are reminiscent of summer meadows in glistening light. A trio underscores the bright yet homely atmosphere with music that uses blues elements to form a counterpoint to the colourful speed of the photographic works.

Gallery owner Barbara Herrmann-Lange gave an introduction: "The crazy thing about Peter's work is first and foremost his working method. His photos are intensely coloured and blurred. He lays
several motifs digitally on top of each other and thus achieves an amazingly crazy effect." The exhibition runs until 4 December.
